Birdmen of Istanbul
I worked on the sound for Naki Tez’s documentary, titled İstanbul’un Kuşçuları in Turkish.
Film on MUBI ↗I started as a guitarist, then became a sound engineer, recording artists in the studio and mixing them live.
These are two early recordings: one with my school band, The Masterpiece, and one from the year I started working in studios.
The title is Turkish for first.
I made this the year I started working in studios.
I joined Stüdyo 101 in 2008 as assistant to recording engineer Alp Turaç. I later worked as a sound engineer and audio designer at Babajim Istanbul Studios, with artists including mor ve ötesi, Yüksek Sadakat, Tan Taşçı, Mustafa Ceceli and Petek Dinçöz.
In Babajim’s main recording room, I recorded and mixed artists and bands, choosing the setup for each session and specialising in rock. I recorded an album with Yüksek Sadakat, and two English-language songs and music for Doritos adverts with mor ve ötesi. My broadcast work included recording and mixing live streams for channels such as Mezzo TV.
