Bilal, an Uber driver in Birmingham, lives with his wife Falaknaz, their daughter Zoya and Falaknaz’s mother, Momna. When Momna and the family dog bite each other, Zoya is bitten while pulling them apart. Soon, the whole family is ill.

Bilal believes they are cursed. A doctor suggests food poisoning. Zoya looks online and finds other people describing the same symptoms. She invites one of them, Sarah, to the flat.

Sarah says the virus can be slowed but not cured, and that others are living in hiding. Bilal throws her out, but the pills she brought remain on the table.
