Agafia is preparing to play piano at Bilbury’s festival when a blue-haired stranger arrives, claiming to be an old friend of her father. She leaves photographs that contradict the version of the past Agafia knows.

That day, Agafia’s horse Etzler bolts towards the cliffs. She watches him fall and stop in mid-air. When she wakes two days later, she is told she hit her head on a tree. Nobody seems to know the stranger.

The pilot moves between Bilbury’s artificial nineteenth-century world and the people controlling it in the 2100s.
